Increasing access and fostering student success
At the VCU College of Health Professions, students don’t just study the health sciences disciplines — they gain the real-world experience, interdisciplinary training and mentorship that prepare them to be innovative leaders across the health professions.
Your support ensures that every deserving student has access to a transformative education. Scholarships and student support funds are our top priority — they reduce financial barriers, expand access to high-demand fields and allow students to focus on their studies and clinical experiences. In addition, endowed fellowships provide critical support for our Ph.D. and doctoral students, helping us recruit top-tier talent and prepare the next generation of educators, researchers and advanced practitioners.

Blazing trails and leading change through innovative research
Faculty in the College of Health Professions are leading innovations and discoveries in highly impactful research that improves the health, wellbeing and quality of life of individuals and communities.
Your support will help to establish a Dean’s Excellence Fund to drive innovations in many areas of health care. The fund will support initiatives that build programs and centers that unite faculty from across the college to foster scientific collaborations, drive discovery and improve lives. Such initiatives include:

A center for problem gambling, which will bring together multiple research studies and community outreach services to support gambling addiction and problem gambling among young adults and adults across the commonwealth.

An expansion of our work on the study of neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s and related dementias, and elder care.

A robust neurological rehabilitation program that focuses on neurological disorders across the lifespan, such as autism, sensory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, stroke and traumatic brain injury.

Learning health system science to drive innovations on health services and health systems research.
Together, we will unlock new innovations and deliver new solutions to complex health challenges experienced by people of all ages.
